Chapelry History

Ashton-under-Lyne St Peter was a chapelry  from 1799 within the parish  of Ashton under Lyne St Michael, Lancashire. The building includes a noted Rose window and belfry. It is an imposing example of a "Commissioners" Church.The Graveyard contains many monuments to significant local families.

The Parish is within the Ashton deanery and Rochdale Archdeaconry of the Diocese of Manchester but historically prior to 1847 was part of the Diocese of Chester.
