Australia There are two indigenous groups of people in Australia: the Aborigines and the Torres Strait Islanders. Neither groups had a written language; consequently, records generated about them are found in other sources listed in this outline such as biography, civil registration, and church records.


The library of the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) contains records about indigenous people.
