This collection of citizen records includes the years 1658-1937.

Record Description

This collection of citizen rrcords for the city of Linz may give the name, residence, age, occupation, and tax information for each citizen. Text is handwritten in German. Some documents are handwritten in ledger type format and others in narrative style. It also includes citizen land catasters (burgerkataster), tax invoices (rechnungen), orphan books (waisenbuch), list of proprietors (hauserverzeichnis), certificate of family origin (heimatschein).

Record History

This collection has a variety of legal records all relating, however, to citizen records of residence status, their property, their taxes, their heirs, etc.

Why This Record Was Created

These records were created to keep the identification of all citizens and those applying for citizenship and their property and  taxes.

Record Reliability

Citizen records are reliable, but have in mind that these do not have as much information as church and civil records. Use this records when vital information can’t be found elsewhere.
