Brookton is a former town, now an unorganized territory (township) in the North Washington townships of Washington County, Maine. In 1883 the town of Brookton was organized from the Jackson Brook Plantation (organized from Township 9 R3 NBPP in 1851). The Brookton town status was surrendered in 1941, and since then it has remained unorganized territory.[1] [2]

Records. Jackson Brook Plantation  vital records 1857-1882 were microfilmed in Brookton, Maine and are available from the Family History Library on FHL BRITISH Film 010827 Item 4. Brookton  births prior to 1892, deaths 1883-1886, intentions of marriage and marriage records 1883-1892 are preserved at the Division of Vital Statistics, Augusta, Maine, and available of FHL US/CAN Film 010400 Item 2.
