Parent County

Brunswick County was established in 1764 from New Hanover and Bladen counties. Many court records were destroyed by Federal Troops in 1865. County seat: Brunswick (1764-1779); John Bell's plantation near Lockwoods Folly Bridge (1779-1805); Southport (1810-1977); and Bolivia (1977-present).
