Chambers County has had two county seats and four courthouses. Waller, the first county seat (1858-1908), was home to two courthouses. The first was built in 1854 and destroyed by arson in 1875. A schoolhouse, built in 1869 served as a courthouse until the second Chambers County Courthouse was completed in 1886. This courthouse was used until 1908, when the county seat was moved to Anahuac. The building was later torn down in 1948.
The county's third courthouse was built in Anahuac in 1912. This courthouse burned in 1935, and was replaced in 1936 with the current courthouse, a modern limetone and cement building.
