County Derry (Irish: Contae Dhoire) or County Londonderry is one of the six counties of Northern Ireland. It is in the province of Ulster. The county town is the city of Derry/Londonderry.

The name itself is contentious, with Derry used by Republicans and Londonderry by Unionists.

The county was founded in 1613 as part of the Plantation of Ulster by King James I of England. Its name is derived from that of the city, which was rebuilt a few years earlier by the London guilds.
