Known Issues

Question #1: When browsing El Seybo > Santa Cruz del Seybo > Nacimientos 1883-1884, 1893-1902 (algún desorden cronológico), image 397 has a note stating that pages are missing. Are those pages available?
Answer #1: These pages are missing from the original record and are not available on FamilySearch.

Question #2: The Event Type and Year Range (browse point) title does not properly reflect the actual digital record content. Is there a way to determine what digital records are likely to be found within a collection?
Answer #2: For a way to determine what digital records are likely to be found within a collection or how to find missing images elsewhere, see Document 114052, How to use Film Notes in the Catalog to determine the content of a final browse point in Historical Records.

The following list of known browse point discrepancies describes the event type or year ranges that actually exist in this collection:

Distrito Nacional > Santo Domingo > Defunciones 1983 and Defunciones 1995 should read as Santiago > Santiago de los Caballeros > Defunciones 1983 and Defunciones 1995

Distrito Nacional > Santo Domingo > Nacimientos 1860-1876 should read as Matrimonios 1860-1866 y Promesas de Matrimonios 1875-1877 from Film 1410987 (52 images of matrimonios and 22 images of Promesas de matrimonios).

El Seybo > Santa Cruz del Seybo > Nacimientos 1883-1884, 1893-1902 (algún desorden cronológico) Images 398-519 are birth records that were executed to serve the additional purpose of establishing the legitimacy of the births. A 1944 reformation of the law regarding civil registration includes a fine for parents who do not register their children within 30 days of birth. Prior to that time, it was not uncommon to create a birth record for a child or even an older individual by having the parents and witnesses certify, after the fact, that the child was indeed legitimately born to the parents. The difficulty in reading these documents and their similarity to marriage entries make these legitimate child entries look very much like marriage entries.

Samaná > Santa Bárbara de Samaná > Matrimonios 1945, images 27 – 45 should be designated as Independencia > La Descubierta> Matrimonios 1945.

Santiago > Santiago de los Caballeros > Matrimonios 1887-1900, images 193-347 should read as Defunciones 12 June 1899 - 21 October 1900.

Santiago > Santiago de los Caballeros > Defunciones 1983 and Defunciones 1995 can be found as Distrito Nacional > Santo Domingo > Defunciones 1983 and Defunciones 1995.
