Information on donating items to the Family History Library, Church History Library, and Church Archives.
Family History Library
Gifts of family histories, organized collections, and other records that contain genealogical information are welcome. For example, you can write a history of your family and donate a copy to the Family History Library. When you donate an item, you can indicate that you would like the item microfilmed, as well. Guidelines and instructions on how to donate are on our Web site.
- Go to www.familysearch.org.
- Click the Library tab.
- On the left side, click Gifts and Donations.
- Click the Authorized Gift Form link in the paragraph at the top of the screen. Fill it out and send it along with your donation.
- Return to the previous screen and click Donations to the Family History Library.
The Family History Library does not publish books for people. If you have compiled material that you want published, please find a publisher of your own choosing, whether self-published or by a commercial company. See Gifts, Donations and Loans to the Genealogical Society of Utah for more information about items we accept, and the address where they can be sent.
Church History Library and Archives
The Church History Library and Archives welcomes gifts and donations of many types. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept all donations. For donations of books, manuscripts, artwork, photographs, or other articles relating to the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, go to http://www.lds.org/churchhistory/donationform and fill out the form. A Church history representative will contact you if we determine that your item fits within the scope of our collections.
Financial donations are gratefully accepted. Please make donation checks payable to the Genealogical Society of Utah. If you wish further information call 801-538-2978.
For information on how to donate money, property, or equipment to the Church History Library and Archives, visit the LDS Foundation Web site.
