Sometimes pictures, or even events, were identified only by a holiday, such as Easter, and a year. Finding the date of Easter in a given year can help more closely identify a specific date.

Also, some religions did not perform marriages during Lent, the 40 days before Easter. Thus knowing the religion of an ancestor as well as the date of Easter may tell when a couple did not marry.
