Census records are generally released to the public 72 years after enumeration. The National Archives will release the 1950 census digitally on April 2, 2022. Updates are placed on their 1950 census page. Steve Morse also discusses the 1950 census on his site. Another great free resource dedicated exclusively to the 1950 Census can be found at: 1950census.net.

Only the named persons, their heirs, or their legal representatives can gain access to individual records of censuses not yet released to the public. For more information go to: www.census.gov/genealogy/www/. There is a $65.00 fee for this service.
