Chapelry History

Fence-in-Pendle St Anne was created a chapelry in 1837 from  Whalley, Lancashire Ancient Parish.

Due to the neighbouring Reedley Hallows, Filly Close and New Laund Booth , Lancashire extra parochial area some recorded events in registers may apply to that area.

The Diocese of Blackburn is a Church of England diocese, covering much of Lancashire, created in 1926 from part of the Diocese of Manchester. The Diocese includes the towns of Blackburn, Blackpool, Burnley, and the cities of Lancaster, and Preston, as well as a large part of the Ribble Valley.

"BOOTH, OLD LAUND, a township, in the chapelry of Newchurch-in-Pendle, which is in the parish of Whalley, union of Burnley, Higher division of the hundred of Blackburn, N. division of the county of Lancaster, 3 miles (N.) from Burnley. A church dedicated to St. Anne was built at Fence, in Old Laund, in 1837."[1]
