County Clerk has birth, marriage, death, probate and court records from 1903
and land records from 1876; District Clerk has divorce records[1]



Floyd County has had three courthouses. The first, built in 1892 was a 48'x48' frame structure. The second courthouse, a brick building with a bell tower and clock, was built in 1911, and was torn down after the opening of the present courthouse. [2] [3]



History

The first permanent settlers arrived in 1884.

Parent County

1876--Floyd County was created 21 August 1876 from Bexar Land District. Until 1890, when Floyd County was organized, the county was attached to Donley County for administration purposes. [4]

County seat: Originally, Floyd City.  The town's name was changed in 1892 to Floydada [5]
