They are found in court records of the Lübeck Kanzley, as explained in the Deutsche Rechtswörterbuch - legal dictionary - ("was an nechst- und echt-zeugnuessen, vormundschafften ... und dergleichen einkoembt, sol in denen ... cantzleybuechern verzeichnet ... werden 1639 LübKanzlO. 28 de rath hefft den hoff ... dem nechstgetügeden erben ... krafft der nechsttügnis [zugeschrieben]1721 LübOStB. 404").
The Genealogical Society of Utah has filmed such Nächstzeugnisse from Lübeck for the years 1626-1783. They are found on International films 476246 and 492264 of the International Floor in the Family History Library Salt Lake City, Utah.

These are written statements about sales, purchases, wills, ability to make a will, selling of alcoholic beverages, rights of neighbors, mortgages, securities, inheritances, guardianships, prenuptial agreements, terms of limitation to name just a few. The author has transcribed them. The names of involved parties are given.
