These websites have volunteers who don't charge for lookups and photos, or who charge a very minimal fee.  They aren't necessarily professional genealogists.  Thus many of these volunteers aren't doing your full research.  They are simply doing simple lookups and taking photos for you.

  • Random Acts of Kindness.  These wonderful volunteers are in various localities.  You can search for a volunteer in a certain state, then locate your county.  Each volunteer lists what they will look up or photos they will take.  They are usually free or very minimal charges.  You can also become a volunteer.
  •  You can post a request for a cemetery photo. Often times the people who take the cemetery photos are very glad to also do some genealogy lookups, as well.
