Greene County, Nebraska was formed 16 Mar 1855 from from Cass County and Pierce County. Finally in 26 Jan 1856 this county was redefined; gained from Pierce County, York County, and from area formerly part of Clay County(original, extinct) and Saline County before those counties were relocated. Greene also lost to creation of Butler County, Calhoun County, and Platte County.
