GREWELTHORPE, or Gravelthorpe, a township, in the parish of Kirkby-Malzeard, Lower division of the wapentake of Claro, West Riding of York,6¼ miles (N. W. by W.) from Ripon. A separate chapel has been founded here, called St James [in 1848; registers start in 1854].[1]
