The county is named after U.S. Attorney General Felix Grundy (1777-1840).[1]

Parent County

1851--Grundy County was created 15 January 1851 from unorganized territory. It was attached to Buchanan and Black Hawk Counties prior to organization 25 December 1856. County seat: Grundy Center [2]
