The Guild of One-Name Studies promotes research on all instances of a surname "and its variants" rather than the ancestors or descendants of one person.

The Guild of One-Name Studies encourages a different approach than many genealogists might consider for their research. This unique approach provides an excellent solution to some of the brick wall situations family historians find themselves in with their research.
