Haigh and Aspull St David was created a chapelry in 1833, lying within the boundaries of Wigan All Saints, Lancashire Ancient Parish.

"HAIGH, a township and ecclesiastical district,in the parish and union of Wigan, hundred of West Derby, S. division of the county of Lancaster, 2¾ miles north by east from Wigan. The church, dedicated to St. David,was erected in 1833."
