Chapelry History

Hulme Christ Church was cemetery chapel built by the year 1835; it, along with ten chapelries served Hulme Township and all which stood within the parish boundaries of  Manchester Our Lady, St George and St Denys, Lancashire (which see). Review or printout A Comprehensive List of All Pre-1851 Manchester Parishes and Chapelries, which includes those chapelries of Hulme Township.  

Samuel Lewis, noted 19th Century topographer wrote:

"Hulme is a township with [ten] parochial chapelries in Manchester parish, union of Chorlton, hundred of Salford, S. division of Lancashire. It is separated from the city of Manchester by the river Medlock."[1]
