Idaho Bible RecordsEdit This Page
From FamilySearch Wiki
Some families in Idaho recorded the vital events of their members in their Family Bibles. A few of those Bibles have been abstracted by genealogical and historical societies. Some of those abstracts have been published in the periodicals of those societies.
One of the foremost organizations to collect information from Family Bibles is the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Their chapter members have abstracted a few of the Family Bibles of Idahoans and have added those abstracts to the DAR collection at their library in Washington, DC. This collection is described in the "Genealogy" section of this wiki, and is partially indexed by E. Kay Kirkham, "An Index to Some of the Bibles and Family Records of the United States," Volume II (Logan, Utah: The Everton Publishers, Incorporated, 1984) At various libraries (WorldCat); FHL book 973 D22kk v.2; fiche 6089184 The DAR collections are being indexed on their Internet site. Some of the Bible abstracts from the DAR chapters in Idaho are included in the records microfilmed several years ago at the DAR Library in Washington, DC, by the Family History Library in Salt Lake City (FHL film 849914).
Other organizations which have abstracted and published information from some Idaho Family Bibles include the Idaho Genealogical Society, and the Walla Walla Valley Genealogical Society. At least one volume entitled "Bible Records from the Pacific Northwest" was published by the Walla Walla Society FHL book 979 D28w
