Contents

Record Description

This collection will include records from 1960-2013. The records include a collection of naturalization and citizenship-related records from the District Court in Pati, Central Java, Indonesia. The records include the following documents: Permohonan Pewarganegaraan (Applications for naturalization), Permohonan Akte Kelahiran (Applications for birth certificate), and Permohonan Ahli Waris (Court decrees of inheritance). Immigration to Indonesia also took place at this time when huge populations from the Indian subcontinent visited the country and settled there. Few settled in Victoria, and those who did were probably Dutch Indonesians. The Dutch rule over Indonesia, ended when the Japanese took over the country during World War II. The Netherlands controlled the Indonesian archipelago since the 19th century. For working in Indonesia, the foreigners have to send their application to the immigration office.

Search the Collection

To search the collection image by image select "Browse through images" on the initial collection page:
⇒ Select the appropriate 'Record Type'
⇒ Select the 'Year and Number(s)' which takes you to the images.

Search the collection by image comparing the information with what you already know about your ancestors to determine if the image relates to them. You may need to look at several images and compare the information about the individuals listed in those images to your ancestors to make this determination.

As you are searching it is helpful to know such information as your ancestor’s given name and surname, some identifying information such as residence and age, and family relationships. Remember that there may be more than one person in the records with the same name as your ancestor and that your ancestor may have used nicknames or different names at different times.

Using the Information

When you have found the information that you are looking for, the following will help you further your research:

  • Use the age to calculate the year of birth
  • Use the names of the parents to search for their naturalization records.
