Stato Civile di Agrigento, Italia

[edit] Record Description

This collection of civil registration records includes births, marriages, death, residency records, marriage banns, and supplemental documentation files within the custody of the State Archive of Agrigento. Availability of records is largely dependent on time period and locality. Records for this collection include the years 1866-1942.

The civil registration records are an excellent source of accurate data on names, dates, and places for genealogical research in Agrigento. However, before 1860, when civil registration became law for the entire country, it is suggested to research the church records.

You can browse through images in this collection by visiting the browse page for Italy, Agrigento, Agrigento, Civil Registration (Tribunale), 1866-1942.

[edit] Record History, Content and Use

For details about the contents of these records, their history, and help using them see the wiki article: Italy, Civil Registration (FamilySearch Historical Records).

[edit] Search the Collection

To search by image:
⇒Select "Browse through images" on the initial collection page
⇒Select the appropriate “Comune or Frazione”
⇒Select the appropriate “Record Type and Year” which takes you to the images

Search the collection by image comparing the information with what you already know about your ancestors to determine if the image relates to them. You may need to look at several images and compare the information about the individuals listed in those images to your ancestors to make this determination. Keep in mind:

  • There may be more than one person in the records with the same name.
  • You may not be sure of your own ancestor’s name.
  • Your ancestor may have used different names or variations of their name throughout their life.
