This collection will include census records for the year 1975.

Census information is kept on forms in French. There is a multi-page form for each household. All members of the household are recorded. The first page contains the location information, such as prefecture, sub-district, city, and address. The next two pages contain the census form and the information gathered about the household.

  • Civil status (married, divorced, widow, etc.)
  • Nationality
  • Religion
  • Highest level of education completed
  • Occupation or profession and level in that profession

How to Use the Record

To begin your search, it would be helpful if you know the following information:

  • Name of your ancestor
  • Name of City - Village

Search the Collection

To search the collection image by image select "Browse through images" on the initial collection page

⇒Select the appropriate "Sub-prefecture"
⇒Select the appropriate "City - Village" which will take you to the images.

Look at the images one by one comparing the information with what you already know about your ancestors to determine if the image relates to them. You may need to look at several images and compare the information about the individuals listed in those images to your ancestors to make this determination.
