This collection will include census records for the year 1975.
Census information is kept on forms in French. There is a multi-page form for each household. All members of the household are recorded. The first page contains the location information, such as prefecture, sub-district, city, and address. The next two pages contain the census form and the information gathered about the household.
These records are available online for free at FamilySearch.org. One may access this collection for free by clicking on the link at the top of this article. The records in this collection have be divided up by department, sub-prefecture, and city or town.
The Ivory Coast gained its independence in 1960. The country would hold its first national census in 1975.

These Census records usually contain the following information:
- Relationship to head of household
- Date and place of birth
- Civil status (married, divorced, widow, etc.)
- Highest level of education completed
- Occupation or profession and level in that profession
How to Use the Record
To begin your search, it would be helpful if you know the following information:
- Name of your ancestor
- Name of City - Village
Search the Collection
To search the collection image by image select "Browse through images" on the initial collection page:
⇒Select the appropriate "Department"
⇒Select the appropriate "Sub-prefecture"
⇒Select the appropriate "City - Village" which will take you to the images.
Look at the images one by one comparing the information with what you already know about your ancestors to determine if the image relates to them. You may need to look at several images and compare the information about the individuals listed in those images to your ancestors to make this determination.
