records from 1882; District Clerk has divorce and
court records[1]

History

The earliest settlement occurred in 1851 with the establishment of Fort Phantom hill, which was abandoned in 1854 and re-established in 1872.

Parent County

1858--Jones County was created 1 February 1858 from Bexar Land District and Bosque County, but was not organized until 1881. [2]

County seat: Originally, Jones City.  The town's name was changed to Anson in 1882. [3] [4]
