The Journal History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (1830-1973) is a source to use when searching for your LDS ancestors. This collection is on microfilm and contains more than 1,000 chronologically arranged volumes. Contents include clippings from newspapers, excerpts from private journals, letters, biographies, autobiographies, pioneer company rosters, histories, and other documentary materials. The index refers to the date of each entry. Search the index for the ancestor or subject in question and then search the films as needed. You may or may not find anything pertaining to your ancestors in this record. The collection is on 247 rolls of microfilm and must be viewed in either the Family History Library or Church History Library in Salt Lake City. The films can not be circulated to family history centers.
