Chapelry History

St Simon Liverpool, was created a district church in 1846 from, and lying within the civil boundaries of Liverpool St Peter and St Nicholas, Lancashire and was closed in in 1930 (Source F. Youngs, Local Administrative Units: Northern England (London: Royal Historical Society, 1991), p. 182.) .

The church was originally a Distrist Commissioner's church ,foundation stone of St Simon's Church Gloucester Street laid by Rev J BROOKS 14 July  1846. The church was consecrated by the Archbishop of Canterbury 1 March 1847

This church was later demolished in 1866 to be replaced by railway. St Simon's Parish church, Gloucester-street and Silver Street, consecrated 14 June 1872; following relocation by  by the London and North-western Railway Company.
