Chapelry History

LUMB, (St Michael) was created a district chapelry in 1846 from, Newchurch-in-Rossendale, parish of Whalley, union of lying within the civil boundaries of Haslingden, Higher division of the hundred of Blackburn, N. division of Lancashire, 10 miles (N. N. W.) from Rochdale. The church was declared redundant in 2001 and has now been converted to residential accommodation. Other places in the parish include: Higher Booths and Lower Booths. The Baptists and Methodists have places of worship.[1]
