The records are still there, but the search is different. You can no longer find the localities you used to be able to find. You should search for them in the Catalog. Go to the FamilySearch home page and click on the word “Catalog” directly under the Title of the page. Enter in the Keyword search the name of the town/hamlet for which you are searching. The results that come up have the town/hamlet in them. Choose and click on the selection (preferably the one that says Online). It will open to a page that will reference a larger community. Known Issues

Question #1: The content of some files and their titles do not match. Which files have this problem?
Answer #1:

  • Bastendorf, Marriages 1817-1890—Décès 1800-1859 are for Bettendorf not Bastendorf.
  • Ettelbrϋck, Mariages (Marriages) 1827-1878 should be Ettelbrϋck, Décès (Death) records for 1814-1881.
  • Hoscheid , Décès (Deaths) 1805-1850 contains Naissances (Births), Mariages (Marriages) and Décès 1798-1850.
  • Manternach, Tables décennales 1802-1822, Vol. 2 is for the years 1802-1893.
  • Manternach, Tables décennales 1823-1892, Vol # are Naissances (birth records) not tables décennales. They are duplicates of Naissances 1797-1835 Vol. 4.
  • Putscheid, Naissances (Births) 1779-1831, begins with records from 1798 which would indicate that this waypoint is incorrectly labeled. But the typewritten note on image 1 indicates that the years are out of order.
  • Weiswampach, Naissances, Mariages, Décés (Birth, Marriage, Death) 1779-1891, Vol. 5 only contains records until 1781.

Question #2: When I search this collection why can I not find the town of Heinerscheid?

Question #3: When searching this collection, I used to be able to find the towns, such as Canach and Ehnen. How do we find the smaller towns?
Answer #3: At the recent rework of this collection, the town/hamlet names were combined into the Commune/municipality level. Try searching the larger community for your town/hamlet.
