Known Issues

Question #1: The Event Type and Year Range (browse point) title does not properly reflect the actual digital record content. Is there a way to determine what digital records are likely to be found within a collection?
Answer #1: The following list of known browse point discrepancies describes the event type or year range that actually exist in this collection:

  • Diekirch > Naissances, mariages, décès 1893-1902 are really Echternach > Tables décennales 1893 -1903
  • Ell > Mariages 1796-1823 includes death and baptism records also.
  • Esch-sur-Alzette > Naissances 1807 has birth records from 1807 – 1874.
  • Esch-sur-Alzette > Naissances 1802-1892 has birth records from 1797-1807.
  • Esch-sur-Alzette > Naissances 1874 Mariages 1797-1816 has birth records from 1874-1890.
  • Perlé > Naissances, mariages, décès 1779-1892 includes Tables décennales 1802-1823, starting with Image 6-20 of 223.
  • Putscheid > Naissances (Births) 1779-1831, begins with records from 1798 which would indicate that this waypoint is incorrectly labeled. But the typewritten note on image 1 indicates that the years are out of order.
  • Remich > Naissances, mariages, décès 1881-1894 are really Remich > Naissances 1881, 1891-1894, Mariages 1891-1894, Décès 1891-1894.
  • Troisvierges > Naissances 1805-1890 Mariages 1779-1805 year span should be Naissances 1805-1890 Mariages 1779-1813.
  • Tuntange > Décès 1895-1912 are really Strassen > Deces 1895-1923.

Question #3: When searching this collection, I used to be able to find the towns, such as Canach and Ehnen. How do we find the smaller towns?
Answer #3: At the recent rework of this collection, the town/hamlet names were combined into the Commune/municipality level. The records are still there, but the search is different. You can no longer find the localities you used to be able to find. You should search for them in the Catalog. Go to the FamilySearch home page and click on the word “Catalog” directly under the Title of the page. Enter in the Keyword search the name of the town/hamlet for which you are searching. The results that come up have the town/hamlet in them. Choose and click on the selection (preferably the one that says Online). It will open to a page that will reference a larger community. Try searching the larger community for your town/hamlet.
