Parish History

Lytham St Cuthbert is an Ancient Parish (1678) in the Amounderness deanery of the Diocese of the Diocese of Manchester from 1847.

The Diocese of Blackburn is a Church of England diocese, covering much of Lancashire, created in 1926 from part of the Diocese of Manchester. The Diocese includes the towns of Blackburn, Blackpool, Burnley, and the cities of Lancaster, and Preston, as well as a large part of the Ribble Valley.

"LYTHAM St Cuthbert, a parish, in the union of the Fylde, hundred of Amounderness, N. division of Lancashire, 13 miles west by south from Preston. The church was rebuilt in 1834. A second church, at the entrance to the village from the Preston road, was commenced in June, 1847.

A Methodist meetinghouse has been recently built, and in the village is a Roman Catholic chapel.[1]
