Record Description

This collection will include marriage dispensation records housed at the Archives of the Archdioceses of Guadalajara in Mexico from 1605-1835. Additional images will be published as they become available. The records are in Spanish.

For a list of records by document type and dates currently published in this collection, select the Browse link from the collection landing page.

Record Content

Records usually contain the following information:
  • Date and place of marriage
  • Groom's name and origin
  • Names of groom's parents
  • Bride's name and origin
  • Names of bride's parents

Search the Collection

To search the collection you will need to follow this series of links:

Look at the images one by one comparing the information with what you already know about your ancestors to determine which one is your ancestor. You may need to compare the information about more than one person to make this determination. Keep in mind:

  • There may be more than one person in the records with the same name.
  • You may not be sure of your own ancestor’s name.
  • Your ancestor may have used different names or variations of their name throughout their life.
