How to Use the Record
To search this collection, you need to know the following information about the ancestor that you are looking for:
- Ancestor's name
- Date of birth
- Names of children
If you have found the information and don't know what to do with it, you can do the following:
- Use the age to calculate an approximate birth date
- Get vital information such as where they were born, where his/her family has migrated to and from
- Use residence to locate census records for the time period
If you can't find the ancestor that you are looking for:
- Try searching for nicknames of your deceased ancestor, such as Thos. for Thomas, Wm for William, Chas. for Charles, Geo. for George, etc.
- Search the last census that your ancestor was apart of. This way, you may have a hint at where their last residence was.
To search the collection select "Browse through images" on the initial collection page ⇒Select the “Court Name” ⇒Select the “Event Type” ⇒Select the “Year or Inclusive Years” ⇒Select the “File Numbers” which takes you to the images Look at the images one by one comparing the information with what you already know about your ancestors to determine which one is your ancestor. You may need to compare the information about more than one person to make this determination.
