There is no compiled list of Montana cemeteries or statewide collection or index of cemetery transcripts. The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Collection contains tombstone inscriptions from some Montana cemeteries (see Montana_Cemeteries).

Inscriptions from ten central Montana cemeteries have been copied by the Lewistown Genealogical Society (Family History Library film 1035938 item 2). Additional transcripts of cemetery records are in Cemetery Records of Montana, Three Volumes. (Salt Lake City, Utah: Genealogical Society, 1947-61; Family History Library book 978.6 V22c; film 873694 items 4-6, fiche 6051445).

Tombstone inscriptions have also been published in periodicals. See United States Cemeteries for further suggestions on locating cemetery records.

Montana's Genealogical and Local History Records (see Montana Genealogy) lists cemeteries in each county.
