Known Issues

Question #1: I am trying to locate Certificates of Citizenship for Allegany County. Can you tell me where to find them?
Answer #1: The browse points Petitions for naturalization 1866-1894 and Petitions 1894-1900 are Certificates of Citizenship.

Question #2: In looking in an index for my ancestor’s records I was pointed to the following browse point - > Kings > Petitions for naturalization 1919 vol 176, no 43601-43850. There see ms to be pages missing. Are these records available somewhere else?
Answer #2: The browse point Kings > Petitions for naturalization 1919 vol 176, no 43601-43850 has been incorrectly labeled. The records currently located in the browse point are Kings > Petitions for naturalization 1919 vol 176, no 43628-43850 not 43601. The records from 43601-43627 are located on Microfilm #2367148 that is not online at this time, but can be ordered and viewed at a FamilySearch Center near you. See instructions in Answer #3.

Question #3: In New York County, all of the Declaration of intention indexes show the message “Image not Available”. Is there a way to view these indexes?
Answer #3: These indexes are currently unavailable online. You can view them by ordering the films. A list of the films and their film numbers can be found at: Card Index of Naturalizations, petition of Supreme Court of New York 1876-1924. Select the film you would like to view at your local Family History Center. Instructions for ordering the films can be found at: Ordering Microfilm and Microfiche.
