Known Issues

Question #1: When I search for an image, the wrong image comes up. How do I find the correct image?
Answer #1: Some images are incorrectly linked, and they may be several records off. Certificates may be located by matching the certificate number, found in the record details, to the actual certificate on the images. This is done by scrolling through the images until the correct certificate number is located.

Question #2: Some certificates are missing. What should I do?
Answer #2: If you determine, based on the certificate numbers, that images are missing, please report the problem at support@familysearch.org so that it can be investigated and corrected. In some cases the images were missed in the original filming, but in some cases they were missed when the film was digitized. If it can be determined, through reporting the missing image or images, that they are on the original film, the film can be ordered (See Ordering Microfilm and Microfiche) and viewed at a local FamilySearch Center. The film numbers can be found on the record details page for the individual. For instance:

  • On DGS4020632, File numbers 17042-17700 are not available on the digital film and so are not online. The microfilm #2023983 can be ordered with the above instructions.
  • Records that came from Film #1992473 File Numbers 52117-54900, 1931 have not yet been uploaded. The images can be viewed on this film following the above instructions.

Answer #3: When a record contained an overlay, it was filmed twice, once with the overlay and once without so that no pertinent information was lost. By scrolling forward or backward you should find the image without the overlay. Question #4: There are images in the browse point 1950 > 19401-22100 that do not have the death date listed on the search results list nor on the record details page. Where can I find the death date?
Answer #4: The date seems to have been missed in the indexing. You can find the death date by viewing the image. The date is recorded there.
