Old film numbersEdit This Page
From FamilySearch Wiki
The GS (Genealogical Society) film numbers refer to a former catalog numbering system. They were five-digit numbers followed by a one- to four-digit part number. Here are two ways to convert the old GS film numbers into the current Family History Library film numbers.
- Search the Family History Library Catalog by the locality or author of the record that has the GS film number.
- Use the old DOS version of the catalog in the CD version of FamilySearch. This version is available in the Family History Library in Salt Lake City and may be available in a family history center near you. The center staff can help you convert the number.
If you need to convert an old GS book number, contact the Family History Library.
- Go to www.familysearch.org.
- Click the Library tab.
