The Hospital for Sick Children at Great Ormond Street in London was England first in-patient children’s hospital. Small and Special is an online collection of resources, including a database to admission records, 1852-1914. You can learn about a patient or medical staff member.

A search in the admission records is free. Search for a name and a list of results appears. Click on a name and you can see:

  • Personal details
  • Residence
  • Admission and stay
  • Disease, outcome and discharge.

Registration is free. Once you are registered, you can see additional information. For an example of the search results, look for Alice Johnson.
