One of the primary elements of family history research is to determine what we already know about our families. "Youth Temple Challenge" Youth Conference

Youth conference is a chance to help youth learn, grow, and have an uplifting, spiritual experience. Family history is a perfect theme for a youth conference. It provides hands-on activity, service, and experience in finding names to take to the temple.

The Riverton FamilySearch Library offers a one-day family history youth conference activity for wards and multi-wards. The library youth conference activities are designed to help youth and their leaders catch the Spirit of Elijah and learn how its influence can bless the lives of both the living and the dead through family history and temple ordinance work.

Elder Neil A. Andersen's challenge to Youth

At RootsTech 2015, Elder Andersen modified the temple challenge given to youth by adding eight words:

Prepare as many names for the temple as baptisms you perform in the temple, and help someone else to do the same.

Elder Andersen challenged youth to:

  • Find one--find a name to take to the temple
  • Take one--take that name to the temple
  • Teach one--teach someone else how to do it

Apostles have promised the following blessings to youth who participate in family history:

Your conversion to the Savior will become deeper.
You will receive light and knowledge through the Holy Ghost.
Your testimony will be strengthened.
Your patriarchal blessing will become more meaningful.
Your love and gratitude for your ancestors will grow.
You will have greater opportunities to serve.
Your service in the temple will become more sacred.

You will be protected from the increasing influence of the adversary.

2016 Schedule

Youth conference can be scheduled Monday through Friday from June 6 to August 12, 2016, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., except near holidays. The following table shows available dates.
