Saxony PopulationEdit This Page

The people of Saxony are in reality not Saxons, i.e., descendants of the German tribe of Saxons. The people of Saxony should actually be called Meißner because the state of Saxony grew out of the Meißen Marches. Here King Heinrich I built a castle in 929 to ensure a German settlement within Slavic territories. Originally settled by Germanic tribes later by Sorbs, Saxony developed over time into one of the richest German states.
