SATTERTHWAITE, All Saints, a chapelry created a chapel of ease by 1675, in the parish of Hawkshead, Lancashire, union of Ulverston, hundred of Lonsdale north of the Sands, N. division of the county of Lancaster, 4 miles south by west of Hawkshead. This chapel was erected by the year 1766 and was repaired and enlarged in 1837. 
Satterthwaite is a village situated in Grizedale, a valley in the Lake District, England, about four miles south of Hawkshead. Since 1974 it has been adminsitratively within Cumbria but was historically in Lancashire. The modern parish is in the Diocese of Carlisle.
