Selling St Mary is an Ancient Parish in the Diocese of Canterbury and is part of the Selling with Throwley Sheldwich with Badlesmere group of churches.

The church dates from the 12th century and was extended in the 14th and 15th centuries and was restored by R.C.Hussey between 1841 and 1846.

The church has been designated a Grade I listed building by English Heritage British listed building.
