The South Carolina Genealogical Society's archives are housed in the Old Edgefield District Genealogical Research Library in the Tompkins Memorial Library.

South Carolina Historical Society 

The South Carolina Historical Society has substantial holdings related to genealogy, the Civil War, and local/state/regional history in their private facility. They are a non-profit organization. If you are not a member, visiting their library and using their resources cost $5 a day. The society will perform some research services but it is suggested to hire a professional research for in-depth research.

South Carolina State Society - DAR

National Society Daughters of the American Revolution

Membership to the DAR is open to any woman who is eighteen years of age or over and can prove lineal, blood line descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence. Documentation is required for each statement of birth, marriage, and death.
