This collection contains copies of original passport register books and passport application files housed at the Archivo Histórico Provincial de Cantabria in Santander, Spain. Some of the passports were issued for internal use in Spain (salvoconductos or pasaportes para el interior) and others were issued to travel from Spain to other countries (pasaportes para el extranjero or ultramar). This collection is being published as images become available.

- Name of the traveler
- Date and place issued
- Family members also traveling

⇒ Select the "Provincia" category
⇒ Select the "Tipo de registro y años" category which takes you to the images.
Look at the images one by one comparing the information with what you already know about your ancestors to determine which one is your ancestor. You may need to compare the information about more than one person to make this determination.
Using the Information
- Use the age to calculate a birth date.
- Search the destination location for records.
For Help Reading These Records
These records are in Spanish. For help with reading the records, see the following wiki articles:
- When looking for a person who had a common name, look at all the entries for the name before deciding which is correct.
- Just because the person had a passport doesn’t necessarily mean they followed through with their travel plans.
- Most of the people who traveled to other countries did so to immigrate.
