This collection includes civil registration, census and military records for the cities and parishes of Granada and Loja in the province of Granada. This collection is being published as images become available.

These civil registration records usually contain the following information:

  • Name
  • Place and date of event
  • Parents’ names

These census records usually contain the following information:

  • Names
  • Ages
  • Residence
  • Nationality or place of origin

Military draft records usually contained the following information:

  • Name of parish
  • Street and house number
  • Names of draftees
  • Names of parents of draftees
  • Presiding court
  • Day, month and year of enlistment
  • Age of draftees
  • Parents’ name
  • Residence
  • Sometimes, mother's civil status
  • Sometimes, names of siblings and their civil status
  • Date(s) service was extended

How to Use the Record

To search the collection you will need to follow this series of links:
⇒ Select the "Browse" link in the initial search page
⇒ Select the "Provincia" category
⇒ Select the "Ciudad o municipio" category
⇒ Select the "Parroquia" category
⇒ Select the "Tipo de registro y años" category which takes you to the images.

Look at the images one by one comparing the information with what you already know about your ancestors to determine which one is your ancestor. You may need to compare the information about more than one person to make this determination.
