Parish History

STOCKLAND (St. Michael), a parish, in the union and hundred of Axminster, S. division of Devon, 6 miles (N. E. by E.) from Honiton. A portion of the parish contains the chapelry of DALWOOD. The parish comprises 10,000 acres: the surface is hilly, and the soil a rich marl; dairy-farming prevails, and considerable quantities of wheat are grown. The church is a large ancient structure. There is a chapel of ease at Dalwood. [1]
