Sylvie, I understand after talking with Heidi that you are okay with moving ahead in this direction. Please let me know if you're not because I would like to get started as soon as possible.

Revision as of 22:58, 22 February 2014

Per meeting with Fritz and Heidi, Czech Republic Jewish Research is broader than Czech Republic Jewish Records. We are planning to make this uniform across all countries in preparation for the Jewish Conference in July. Please provide any comments on a change like this as soon as you can. Thanks.

Elder Matthia, I am not understanding what you are proposing. Are you planning to rename the topic? Please note that there are two topics pertaining to Jewish research in the Czech Republic: Jewish History and Jewish Records. Please let me know.

Sylvie, no, not rename this page. You've done a great job on these two pages, as good or better than that for other countries.

The thinking is more along this line to make Jewish access uniform across all country and region names: For each country "CountryName Jewish Research" would be a single landing page pointing to everything Jewish in our Wiki about that country.

Also, on the Jewish Genealogy Research page there would be a link to a page with a list of all the countries as sub-regions that have Jewish Research pages. Basically two distinct access routes to the same "CountryName Jewish Research" pages.

For some less well developed Jewish country material, there may be only the one page with sections like "History," "Records," "Organizations," "Web Sites," "Maps, "Migrations," etc., etc.

Since you have so much good material already under "History" and "Records" I suggest that the new universal Jewish landing page "Czech Republic Jewish Research" just then link to your two other pages. As you add classes of information, you can either create a new page for the class and point to it from the landing page, or, if it's short, just put it on the landing page.

The Jewish Link in the Czech Republic sidebar would be reduced to one link to the "Czech Republic Jewish Research" page which would be the Jewish hub for the Czech Republic.

When missionaries are helping Jewish researchers with a specific country all they have to remember to type is "CountryName Jewish Research." Also a new category would be created "Jewish Research by Country and Region".
