Usage

{{PD}} is a generic Wiki template for works in the public domain. Where possible, prefer more specific public domain (PD) templates such as:

  • {{PD-Art}} for recent photographs of 2-dimensional works of art in the public domain
  • {{PD-author}} for works released into the public domain by another author
  • {{PD-Canada}} for works released into the public domain in Canada
  • {{PD-ineligible}} for works ineligible for copyright
  • {{PD-old}} copyright expired because author died more than 70 year ago
  • {{PD-old-100}} copyright expired because author died more than 100 year ago
  • {{PD-self}} for works placed in public domain by the author himself
  • {{PD-textlogo}} for images or text not original enough for protection
  • {{PD-US}} in the public domain in the United States because published prior to 1923
  • {{PD-USGov}} public domain because it was created by a government entity
  • {{PD-USGov-Atlas}} PD because it is in the government National Atlas
  • {{PD-USGov-Interior-HABS}} government created by Historic American Buildings Survey
  • {{PD-USGov-NPS}} PD because created by National Park Service employee
  • {{PD-USGov-NSF}} PD because created by National Science Foundation employee
  • {{PD-USGov-USDA}} PD because created by U.S. Dept. of Agriculture employee
  • {{PD-xrmap}} released into PD by the Xrmap flag collection

This template puts images into the Category:Public domain images.
